BETTER TAKE A REST, 2024
163 x 39 x 16 cm
Acrylic and mixed media
This work translates two years of a beginner's experience in snowboarding, measured in countless falls, into a fierce competition in society. The beginner slope is constructed from overlapping torn pages from used notebooks and textbooks, symbolizing the ongoing burden of academic life. Graphic elements that lie just under the figure’s feet express a longing for the comfort of the bed. Ultimately, the fall on this gentle, burdensome slope does not signify failure; rather, it creates the necessary reason to take a break from the competition.

RECOLLECTION TUNNEL, 2025
74 x 60 x 39 cm
Mixed media
“Recollection Tunnel” is about realization of self-worth that friendships embody. Since 2018, the time spent with two friends had spoke to me to remember who I am. During periods of important changes, such as adapting to a new school or confronting my flaws, I disguised myself to fit into a community. However, whenever the three of us reunited, I took off the disguise, allowing my authentic self to appear. The tunnel represents this act of looking back into my true personality. Within the tunnel, a mural unfolds, where each scene signifies a shared memory.

SUSHI-GO-ROUND, 2025
96 x 16 x 11.5 cm
Clay, acrylic
“Sushi-Go-Round” is a visualization of the floating worries in our heads, rendered as sushi. Worries are often created from a simple thought, which has similarity with the simple structure of sushi: rice, wasabi, and Sashimi. Sushis on each plate symbolize worries about personality, study, art, sleep, sports, and time. The sushi of worries goes around and around until someone takes it. People’s hesitation to take a sushi dish depending on the color of the plates is conceptualized as a level of difficulty in solving each worry.

SNEAKING INTO MY UNIVERSE, 2025
88 x 25 x 18 cm
Mixed media
"Sneaking Into My Universe" represents the special closet from my childhood. To me, the closet was not simply a place to hang clothes. It was a hidden space where I sneaked in to hide my favorite candies, books, and worksheets, and entered to enjoy those hidden items, which shaped my creativity. The long, wooden structure expresses that small space, transforming it into one little girl’s entire universe. Inside the closet, planets take on the unique textures and shapes of the secret candies I once hid there.
